Elite_us_ang_lNewsweek's N'Gai Croal and the Mercury News' Dean Takahashi square off on their blogs about the Xbox 360 Elite. What happens when two of the game business' most well-informed, well-spoken journalists go mano-a-mano? They, uh, agree. A lot. But in agreement, they produce lots of great insights and sound bites:

At any given point in the competition, Microsoft will have a lower-cost box than Sony. That's why, right now, it can sell the Xbox 360 for $399 at a time when Sony has to sell at $499 and $599. Microsoft can move forward with redesigned innards once a year or so and continuously cut prices. This is what I call accidentally brilliant. They had no clue that Sony would come in late, with a high price, and with so little to distinguish its games from Microsoft's best games.

That's from Takahashi. I'm sure N'Gai will be firing back with his earnest agreement as the discussion continues.
