Carbon dated on the Internet Timeline, Wizard People, Dear Reader by Brad Neely is so old, it's maggoty with fossilized trilobites. It was released in 2004, for Kenneth Eng God's sake. That said, if I didn't come across the comedic genius of Brad Neely for three years, there's a chance that someone out there still hasn't, in which case, it's my sacred duty as a blogger to edify them even as I fling my internet cred out the window.
Wizard People is Neely's unauthorized spoof narration of Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone, featuring Harry ("I am a beautiful animal! I am the destroyer of worlds!") Potter, his best pal Ronnie "The Bear" Weasel and "that horrible, disgusting creature" Harmony, with her hair made up entirely by "follicle-sized serpents" like "a pre-pubescent Medusa."
Wizard People was originally released by Illegal Art! and the entire soundtrack is freely downloadable on the website. Throughout, Neely narrates the familiar adventures of Harry in the nasal, folksy tone of a foul-mouthed Paul Harvey.
It's very hard to do Wizard People justice: I spent all morning watching these videos, unable to breathe because I was laughing so hard. There's a comprehensive YouTube playlist above. Just browse through it until you fall under Neely's spell.
