Microsoft and Epic have announced that registration is now open for a worldwide Gears of War tournament that will culminate in Prague this July. From now until May 6, Gearheads can compete in ranked matches on Xbox Live; the top 11 players with the highest individual scores will be invited to bring a pal with them to Prague, where they'll compete in the finals.

The top four eligible players from each participating country will receive a 3-day trip to their country's World Cyber Games National Championship Event (say that three times fast). Secondary prizes--keep in mind, this is for folks playing Gears of War--include an Xbox 360 prize pack containing a 360, Viva Pinata, Kameo, PGR, and Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged Volume 1. I mean, prizes are always great to get, but if they're playing Gears of War, they already have a 360, and Kameo isn't even worth much in trade anymore. But free stuff is free stuff, right?
