Crunchgear employed the good old-fashioned telephone call trick to check out rumors that the Apple TV was on sale at Costco. Sam, a Costco employee, confirmed that they were in stock and selling for $290, a $10 saving.
Apple is notorious for keeping tight control on their product pricing. In fact the iPod's prices are considered so stable that investment company Commsec based a (slightly tongue in cheek) "iPod Index" on them, to determine whether world currencies are under or over valued.
