It’s heresy to old-school Cadillac devotees, but the new V6 in the STS is the most powerful of its kind that GM has ever delivered, thanks to direct injection technology, which allows for a higher compression ratio, slightly better fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. The miracle in this technology works because evaporating fuel cools the cylinder charge sufficiently for higher compression. The 3.6-liter engine makes some 47
more horses than the same 3.6-liter engine outfitted with conventional fuel injection. And it’s only 18 ponies shy of the power in the V8 that powers the
2007 STS.
