DVD Makers Turn to DRM on a Chip

You're all still pirating thieves until proven innocent, but at least the movie industry has figured out a way to keep you vermin from shoplifting. The plan is to plant an RFID chip on commercial DVDs. If disabled at the cash register, the chip is just a barely visible dot on the disc. If not, it essentially blocks the DVD from playing.

Flat-screen TVs and other shopliftable consumer electronic items are also potential targets for th chips.
