
It's time to do something about your gerbil wheel of a job making you blobby and unhappy: trade up to a treadmill! Mayo Clinic researchers recently published results of an experiment in which a PC and input devices were embedded into a treadmill. Subjects, all of them overweight, were told to use the workout/workstation for two to three hours of their working day, maintaining a leisurely walking pace of a mile an hour.
The treadmillers burned more than 100 extra calories an hour, enough to lose a good 40 pounds in a year if they kept it up. Said John Brewer of the Lucozade Sports Science Academy:
