Jack Thompson Criticizes Wendy's

Normally, Jack Thompson attracts attention by blaming the world's ills on video games, maybe suing the odd gaming blog or two, but now, as the good folks at GamePolitics describe, he's branching out with his shenanigans and taking aim at Wendy's. Yep, as in those nice folks who make the hamburgers. Why? Because they're pimping Manhunt 2, of course! Yeah, ok, sit down, this takes some explaining.

Thompson hates Manhunt 2, this we know. Manhunt 2 is coming out on the Wii. Wendy's is planning on putting Wii-themed toys in its kids meals. Ergo, Wendy's is promoting Manhunt 2. You know, you almost have to admire the sheer strength of will it takes to come up with that level of mental gymnastics.

But Jack isn't alone in his condemnation of the Wii/Wendy's connection; he's certain that Wendy's founder Dave Thomas is squarely on his side. Despite being, you know, dead:

A dear friend of mine worked for Wendy’s and with Dave Thomas closely for years. From that I know that Dave Thomas never would have tolerated the use of Wendy’s good name to promote Nintendo’s Wii, not with this game available on the Wii platform.

Wow.
