
According to a Reuters report, John Woo has signed on to direct Ninja Gold, a movie based on the video game by Warren Spector. What's that you say? You've never heard of Ninja Gold? Neither have we. Spector will be the executive producer of the movie; Woo was instrumental in creating some of the characters.
The movie involves a ninja (duh) forced to deal with covert warfare in the modern world. Says Warren:
We're all quite familiar with the movie that gets turned into a video game in the hopes of cashing in, with a more often than not tragic outcome. Sometimes, as is the case with just about everything Uwe Boll puts on his resume, the cash-in attempt works in the opposite direction, with the movie trying to ride the popularity coattails of the game. According to Spector, the creation of Ninja Gold wasn't an example of either situation:
