Hothead Games have announced that adventure game pioneer Ron Gilbert will be contributing to Penny Arcade Adventures, the upcoming episodic game based on the comic. Gilbert hails from the glory days of the adventure game, back when LucasArts was putting out titles like Maniac Mansion and Zak McKraken, both of which were worked on by Gilbert. He also co-created the Monkey Island franchise and SCUMM, the scripting language that became synonymous with adventure gaming. He's got chops, is what I'm saying.

Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness
is set for episodic digital dispersal, with several updates throughout the year. Gilbert is pretty jazzed about his involvement:

I have been a fan of Penny Arcade because I have always found their comic so funny and biting. When I first heard they were making a game and that they had chosen to weave adventure game elements into it, I knew immediately I wanted to be involved.

Sweeeeet. Here's hoping Gabe and Tycho meet up with LeChuck, even if it's just for one joke.
