Rumor: Natalie Portman is pitching a project starring herself as the subject of a streaming video diary. According to
[ValleyWag](http://valleywag.com/tech/exclusive/natalie-portmans-lifecast-258610.php EXCLUSIVE: ). the petite actress - - you know her, you love her as Star Wars' Princess Queen Padm and the hellion from *V for Vendetta * has been talking to potential Silicon Valley investors about financing a continuous video feed chronicling her work and life.

No confirmation from Portman's handlers at this point, but it strikes me as a surprising development. I talked to Portman a couple of years back about Closer - she played a stripper - and yeah, she does have a few famous friends. But the soft-spoken, *well *spoken Harvard graduate seemed like the last person I'd expect to see getting into Britney Spears / Jessica Simpson / Tori Spelling / Nicole Ritchie / LonelyGirl-style exhibitionism.

Portman is a devout vagabond, taking roads less traveled to Uganda, Morocco, Guatamala and elsewhere. "I think it was Tolstoy who talked about art making things seem strange," she told me. "When you see something uniquely, strangely, that’s easiest to do in a foreign place where you're unaccustomed to everything; it makes you start questioning what's familiar to you normally and invigorates your wonder with the world when you see all the strange variations."

Here's my theory: Portman has worked as a spokesperson for FINCA International, which makes micro-loans to entrepreneurs in underdeveloped regions of Africa, Asia and Latin America.

If Portman is in fact developing a streaming reality-based show, she might see it as a way of focussing attention to that cause.

Stay tuned.
