A new lobying group called the Copyright Alliance announced itself to the world on Thursday. The groupis made up of 29 industry organizations that it claims represent 11 million Americans working in copyright, the consortium includes artists unions, magazine publishers, sports organizations, record labels, software publishers, television stations, and, naturally, groups like the RIAA and MPAA. At yesterday's announcement, however, the artists were on display, with Tom Paxton, Steve Cropper and a bunch of other musicians you haven't ever heard of either lending, er, if not street cred then at least something to the event. Executive director Patrick Ross said the group hoped to pick up where Jack Valenti left off when he passed away last month.
