Via's Pico-ITX motherboard platform, only 4x3 inches in size, is now available for all your insane small form-factor needs.
Supporting 1GB of DDR2 notebook-size RAM, the Pico comes with an embedded 1GHz VIA C7 processor and an integrated media system. Included is a UniChrome II graphics core capable of HD resolutions, hardware-based MPEG and WMV9 decoding, and a dedicated daughterboard to help developers test their Pico-ITX-based prototypes.
The board is extremely low-power, with the board using 9W and the integrated CPU 3.5W. It's available now for developers, with distribution to begin later this month through more consumer-accessible outlets.
Via's last ultra-tiny motherboard platform, the Nano-ITX, didn't really do it for me. But this one is almost small enough to fit inside a cigarette box: there are so many cool applications, the mind boggles.
