Part of the success of the iPod is it's simplicity. While competitors desperately squeeze in every function they can in an attempt to compete, the iPod plays it minimal. A healthy add on market has grown up around Apple's baby for just this reason, from the bizarre iPod Dock Toilet Roll Holder to this much more useful audio recorder from XtremeMac.

The MicroMemo clips onto your 2G Nano and turns it into a hi-fi recording device. It comes with a microphone, but also has line-in and a mic socket so you can rip CDs or mix down from a whole studio setup.

The audio is encoded as uncompressed WAV files sampled at 44.10 kHz and up to 1411 kb/s, so you have CD quality sound. You won't get too much on a 2GB Nano, though: The files come in at 618MB per hour on the high quality setting.

There's also a speaker, but it won't be up to parties. Available in black and silver aluminum for $60
