Leave it to Microsoft to eventually do the right thing. After nearly a year of letting us presume that the Portable Media Center, Zune's predecessor in the Hapless iPod Challenger category, was merely in a persistive vegetative state, the company has finally give the platform a dignified death.
A Microsoft employee confirmed to Engadget that hardware partners were told last year that Ver. 2.0 of the PMC platform was the last one. Feel free to snap one up on eBay to boost your retro geek cred.
