If — driving groggy-eyed on your next commute — you happen to weave your car around a strange woman crouching in the middle of the carpool lane who, you can't help but notice, is lovingly dressing the oozing corpse of a roadkill possum in baby's clothes.... don't panic. She's not crazy; it's just art!

May, a 2006 graduate of Purdue University, delicately approaches her subjects: "I wear gloves. I don't know that I could touch it with my bare hands, because by the time I find them, they're pretty far gone," she said.

Recently, she painted a deer with metallic gold paint. Several drivers stopped to inquire about her actions; some were not happy.

"I think this is my way of slowing down and paying homage to these animals," she explained. "I don't particularly find it offensive, but I understand why some people who don't understand what I'm doing could find it that way."
