Looks like the release one of the most talked-about games in recent memory, Will Wright's Spore, is getting pushed into next year. EA has announced that it has removed *Spore *from its financial projections for the fiscal year ending March 2008, which means that Spore might be moved into the fiscal year for 2009.

I suppose it's possible that EA is just taking Spore's profits out of the equation to find out what their bottom line would be in case the game has to be pushed back, but the simpler answer--that Spore just plain isn't ready yet--is the more likely one.

Spore's release date has moved more times than a fugitive trying to evade arrest, so this isn't a huge surprise, but it's a bummer just the same. Most recent guesstimates gave Spore a Christmas 2007 release, but now it looks like the earliest we'll see it is April of next year.
