An upcoming "Turntable/Record/Sound Installation" installation from artist Sean Duffy at the Arizona State University Art Museum promises a more interactive experience than one expects from a museum. Visitors will be able to play, scratch, and otherwise manipulate records on eighteen turntables, each of which is connected to twenty speakers suspended above.

From to John Spiak, curator at the ASU Art Museum,

"A selection of albums by instrumental and vocal performers at each turntable allows participants to interactively change the sound environment. With close to 400 speakers, the installation creates a canopy of sound from a collective -- community orchestration of ever-evolving musical compositions."

The Grove installation at ASU in Tempe, Arizona will run from June 2 to September 9 (hours, directions).
