Wiidrums
You can rig a Wiimote to open a door among other things but according to Evan Merz of thisisnotalabel, most virtual drumsets that let you use a Wiimote to bash out rhythms in the air require some scripting knowledge. To let the rest of us in on the fun, he developed an app called Wii Play the Drums that lets anyone with a Bluetooth-capable Windows XP computer (.NET 2.0 required) play two included virtual drumkits (or other drumkits you might have on your computer). You hold the Wiimote as you would a drumstick and start playing in the air, holding down buttons to switch to the second set of sounds.

Here's a fun little video demonstration:

It's worth noting that use this Wii Play the Drums to trigger any six WAV files on your computer, sothere are other ways to use it to play or trigger music (if you had enough people and machines, you could approximate a bell choir). But thedrumset concept is the most solid, because most actual drumkits onlyhave six or so elements anyway. Merz plans to add more features and turn the app into a DX plug-in so that you can use it within other audio apps.
