Warner Music Group is suing social-networking site Imeem (who?) for copyright violations by Imeem users. Warner says the site lets millions of users share WMG music and videos without permission. Imeem is one of a slew of Last.fm-y, Pandora-esque, MyStrands-like site that aims to let its users discover new music through the power of social networking. Warner is seeking to block Imeem from using WMG content on its site, and wants damages up to $150,000 for every unauthorized song or video posted. Yikes! Imeem claims to have 16 million active users, which means there must be at least a few thousand people who will be inconvenienced by this.
