When we first talked with Mark and Jerry, the first two fellas in line to get the iPhone, we found out they really had no love for the device at all— besides its resale value on eBay. Very interesting. Well, we're nerds here at G-Lab so we decided to take a survey and find out who was here and what they were here for. Here's the data on the first 50 people in line here at the Apple Store in downtown San Francisco:
- 32 people here are to get the iPhone because of their unabashed love for Apple products.
- 13 people are in line just to turn around and sell the iPhone after they get it. Each of these folks plan on buying the maximum of two units and then selling them in some capacity afterwards. "I'm just gonna buy two and then turn around and sell it for double my money."
- There are a total of five (including yours truly) people from the media in line.
- 23 people are considering buying one iPhone to keep and one to sell.
- 10 folks in line are getting one because they want to use it for business.
- One guy bought his place in line for $150.
- 48 people were from San Francsico, one from San Mateo, and one from New York.
- Mark, the guy at the very front, wouldn't go into specifics, but said he would "sell his place for the right price."
- The folks in the photo? They're a group of entrepreneurs who are here to sell their spot in line to the highest bidder.
