Man190New York Times' gaming writer Seth Scheisel took a trip down to Take Two's NYC offices to check out the version of Manhunt 2 that scored the kiss-of-death Adults Only rating, and see whether all this controversy is warranted.

Rather than stab him with a shard of glass, you can stab him, wrap a cord around his neck, stuff his head in a toilet and smash him on the back of the head. With the motion-sensitive controller on Nintendo’s
Wii, that means jerking and shaking the controllers around in vague imitation of the mutilations on screen.

Scheisel's conclusions seem to me to be somewhat at odds with each other. On the one hand, he says that the violent scenes "seem to warrant the AO rating." But on the other, he points out that the R-rated version of the movie Saw II is "way ahead" of Manhunt 2 in terms of the gore shown onscreen.

Not sure why Scheisel is okay with this double standard.
