
Conventional game development wisdom seems to be to make your title for as many platforms as possible, thus increasing the number of potential buyers. Pokemon Company President and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara believes such a philosophy hamstrings developers and ends up stifling the creative process. In an interview with Gamespot UK, Ishihara explained that concentrating on what a single platform has to offer is the smart way to bring out the best in the software:
Ishihara applauded the "unique" qualities of the DS and the Wii, but what console does he actually think will win the war? "The hardware which has Pokémon on it will be the winner." Well, really, what else did you expect him to say?
