Folks on the street report that iPhones are simply abundant at Apple stores — "there were thousands ... plenty for everyone" reports one IM-slinging mystery man. If true, the queues were unnecessary. Feel cheated?
This applies to Apple stores. AT&T stores only have 30 phones each, according to the same fellow (who might well be just flapping his meat), and some have similar queues to their Apple counterparts: San Francisco's, for example, has about 100 folks outside waiting for 6 p.m. to hit.
Of course, these are uncorroborated claims, but that's going to be 70 disappointed customers. That said, if our man is right, they can just skip over to the iPhone-deluged Appled store anyway.
