Noted sport climber and shoe designer extraordinaire Heinz Mariacher signed on with Scarpa this year, and his presence is definitely seen, and felt, in its latest shoe line. The Expresso is a climber's shoe, designed to move fast and climb well. Unlike most approach shoes, which wrap climbing features around a hiking shoe last, the Expresso is made on a climbing shoe last-you get a narrower fit and toe pronation for technical footwork. A rubber heel cup lets you heel hook and perform other advanced maneuvers. Breathable mesh keeps the foot cool, even after a ten-mile scramble and all-day climb.

WIRED
Rubber heel cup an unusual - and very useful - feature. Stiffened toe rands great for wedging into cracks. Rubber used in the sole offers the perfect blend of stickiness and durability. Strategically placed mesh keeps feet cool. Climbing shoe last not too pronounced - no pronation on longer hikes.
TIRED
With all the colors available, why did they pick dirt-brown? Greater proportion of climbing rubber on sole makes this shoe a little heavier.
