Wow: it's true that Super Smash Bros. Brawl designer Masahiro Sakurai stated at E3 last year that his Wii game would be compatible with GameCube controllers. But he revealed today on the official home page that four different controller configurations will work. You can turn the Wiimote on its side Super Paper Mario-style, add a nunchuk, or just use a Classic Controller.
Sakurai, of course, didn't reveal exactly how each of these methods will work, but considering the paucity of buttons on the side-on Wiimote version (which really only has a single D-pad and four reachable buttons plus the accelerometer), that means the control scheme cannot be more complicated than that.
Fascinating. Can't wait for E3.
