Tale of Tales Provides Peek at <cite>The Path</cite>

Tale of Tales has released some screenshots and concept art for its in-progress horror title The Path, despite the fact that the developer doesn't really know what the game is yet. They do know that it's based on the story of Little Red Riding Hood, and they have the environment and some characters figured out, but that's pretty much all they've got at the moment. Don't worry, though, it's all part of the plan:

We have made a prototype with the whole environment and some characters in it. Based on this, we can make decisions about gameplay. A technology that we had developed earlier, called Drama Princess, allows us to populate a virtual world with believable autonomous characters quite easily. But now it turns out that they are having too much fun. At the expense of the gruesome tale that we are trying to tell.

You might be wondering what kind of company would name a game engine Drama Princess, to which I reply, the same kind of company that would make an MMO called The Endless Forest in which you, and everyone else, plays as a male deer. Male deer with Seaman-esque faces. I don't think the Creepometer goes high enough for that one.

Unfinished though it may be, I'm still interested to see what becomes of* The Path*, which strikes me as a cross between American McGee's Alice and the movie "Company of Wolves."
