Do you know where your browser's been?

This chart, created and uploaded to Wikimedia by a user named A Deveria, shows the progress of browser development since 1993. It's available in the original SVG format or as a rasterized PNG.

Some interesting points: Unlike most other browsers, Opera is on a timeline all by itself. Also, look at the flurry of activity in browser development shortly after the release of Internet Explorer 6. Was that because the web's growth explosion or was IE6 really that bad? Or both?

Some Digg users have noted that the chart is incomplete in the comments of the original post. For example, it's missing some early efforts like Tim Berners-Lee's WorldWideWeb/Nexus browser for NeXTSTEP. But it's a Wikimedia file, so stop whining and start drawing.
