A whole slew of retailers have cut the price of Microsoft's Zune by up to $60. Staples has the biggest reduction, selling the player for $190, but others, including Amazon, Wal-Mart and BestBuy aren't far behind.
Is this just a fire sale aimed at shifting a few more units of the underperforming Zune, or a way to clear the shelves for an upcoming Zune 2? Either way, it's a little telling. The "other" MP3 player stays at full price right up until the new model ships.
