AT&T and eMusic finally announced their long-expected music store this morning, loaded with 2.7 million DRM-free MP3 tracks. The bad news? Each song works out to $1.50 each, and it only works with a limited set of AT&T's cellphones — iPhone is not on the list.
The service is for AT&T contract slaves only and charges will accrue for download times: the Death Star recommends an unlimited data plan. As a copy is also sent directly to the customer's computer, however, you still get easy access to your DRM-free tunes. A bit of copying and pasting, and any handset or music player is your huckleberry.
For now, however, direct downloads are to the Sammy SYNC, a717 and a727, and the Nokia N75 only.
