In an interview with GamesIndustry, Eidos CEO Bill Gardner clarified the Eidos philosophy with regards to the PS3. The company was putting off releasing games for the console, hoping to give the install base time to grow.

Gardner prefers not to release games for any platform at launch, simply because the audience isn't big enough yet. "I’m trying to get part of the installed base. 20 per cent of zero? That's zero," as he put it. He also thinks that while the PS3 is a good value for the money, Sony is still going to have to drop the price some more:

I don’t think it is enough to reach the mass consumer, but I think it is enough to get it moving again, and it will move a little bit further, and they’ll need to do it again and it will move a bit further.

Sounds about right.
