First off: Do not try this at home. Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories have posted a tutorial on "Cooking hot dogs via electrocution", which is as dangerous as it sounds. From the labs:
The recipe uses a brand new cooking technique, as fast as a microwave and ten times the fun. How does it work? By pumping mains electricity through the hot dog. A standard AC cable is chopped and the bare ends soldered to a pair alligator clips, which clamp onto a couple of forks.
The forks go into the wiener and the switch is (very carefully) thrown. One to two minutes later "swelling, a change in surface shape and luster, and finally smoke and/or cracking indicate doneness."
For a real geek touch, LEDs can be poked into the sausage to light it up like Christmas tree. Unfortunately this renders it inedible. Again. Don't try this. But do go visit the site. It's a very funny read.
