Hollywood Reporter: 360 Price Cut In August

Xbox 360 price cut rumors are a dime a dozen, these days, but what makes this one worth a little more than 0.83 cents is that it's in the Hollywood Reporter. They say that the price of Xbox 360 will come down by $50 on August 8, just in time for Madden.

If anything makes me a little wary, it's the quote they ran from Microsoft. This is the kind of quote that public relations people throw out there all the time, with the slimmest of hopes that some editor, asleep at the wheel, will let it run:

Asked to comment, a Microsoft spokesman said: "We have no announcements to make on pricing at this time. While price matters, content is king. And no other system is offering all the games people want to play this holiday at a better price than Xbox 360."

And people call me a shill. Oh well. I do like their bizarrely, almost incomprehensibly abbreviated headline though:
