If you are audacious enough to think you have more taste than Steve Jobs, you can now throw down $50 and spend three hours to turn your iPhone all-black. The "Apple iphone[sic] OEM metal black rear cover" might not have a catchy name, but there's no doubting what it is, a replacement rear cover.
As you'd expect, the transplant isn't easy. MacRumors forum member "hexproject" took three hours, but from his photographs he managed a tidier job than own Daniel Dumas and Leander Kahney in their ugly teardown attempt. Me? I'll wait for the pink aluminum version to match my iPod.
UPDATE: Be careful what you wish for. ColorWare is offering 29 color combinations for the iPhone, and the company will do the dirty work for you for $150. Alternatively you can buy a brand new iPhone already customized: $650 for the 4GB model and $750 for the 8GB.
