Freelance journo Paul Semel caught up with Assassin's Creed producer Jade Raymond at E3, and asked her about the influences on the anticipated stealth action game, which mixes future tech with medieval settings.

There’s a book called "Alamut," and it’s about the assassins. That book was a big influence. Obviously, Ridley Scott’s "Kingdom Of Heaven," but also "Black Hawk Down" in the way it was shot and the art direction, that had a big influence on the look. We wanted it to give it a modern, edgy feeling, so we’ve taken a lot from movies like "Domino." And then the big pop culture trend we explore is free running. The way [main character] Altaïr jumps from building to building all comes from the hardcore free running guys. We watched those videos to death to get that feeling.
