Wireless networking is to be banned from a London school district after a local politician claimed that we are "frying children's brains" with the technology and that the world will "wake up in 20 years" with serious health problems as a result of radio waves. From the Tottenham Journal:
What, we should only fry children's brains "when it's needed?"

The councilor in question, Emma Jones (Labor—Bruce Gove), said: I, quite frankly, think we are frying children's brains. I'm really worried we going to wake up in 20 years with serious problems." Campaigners cited a recent documentary that was so comprehensively and quickly debunked the BBC felt it necessary to publicly smack down the producer of its own show.
Hysterical health scares are Britain's answer to America's creationism — a systematic mythology rooted in paranoia and folk panic, so deep-seated in the national soul it can never be excised.
