Supping mineral water whilst wearing an evening dress is not the intended purpose of the iStraw, although the model in the photo seems to disagree. The iStraw filters water as you drink, ridding it of a claimed 99.99999% of all waterborne bacteria.
It appears to do this using only filtration, unlike the Lifestraw, which uses a halogen-based resin to kill anything left over by the microfilters. The Lifestraw, though, is designed for more extreme conditions: Third world countries where drinking water is not safe.
The iStraw has a life of 500 liters (132 gallons), which should get you through more than one camping trip. Me? I'll stick with Fiji. £20 ($40).
