The PSP, fresh from being a television, is to become a GPS box and a DVR in Europe, thanks to accessories Sony plans to offer there in February, 2008. They're already available in Japan, but still ain't coming to the U.S.
Equipped with GPS, the PSP competes directly with in-car sat-nav systems and other related toys. With pricing as low as $135, it'll be cheaper than even the nastiest off-the-shelf GPS box—though considering you've already paid more than that for the handset to begin with, it won't make the PSP competitive in that market in and of itself.
The video recording feature will record terrestrial digital broadcasts, which would make it most useful in those locales that offer a decent selection of such channels: Britain, France, Germany and the like all have swathing coverage, but most U.S. towns don't get more than a handful of free digital channels.
