Digital Lifestyle Outfitters sells those FM transmitters for iPods and other portable audio devices that can be used to play your device's music over a car stereo -- in the absence of the Aux In jack which would surely be a standard feature on all car stereos by now, if car dealers didn't have such a vested interest in selling you new audio equipment along with your car.
To help users of its FM transmitters (or anyone else's, for that matter), DLO offers a free service that lets you enter a zipcode or city/state to determine the frequency in that area with the least interference from local stations.
Starting today, if you access dlo.com/openfm/ from an iPhone, you'll see a specially formatted version of the site. This will surely come in handy to iPhone owners on road trips who use FM transmitters, because it'll make finding a new station a lot easier when driving into new areas with different available frequencies.
Still, one can't help but notice the irony of being able to access the web from a car while still resorting to an FM transmitter instead of a simple -- and better-sounding -- audio cable.
