Seeking to outdo the CNN/YouTube's online-video-mediated debate, MySpace and MTV announced Wednesday that they're going to start facillitating real-time communications between the presidential candidates and "America's youth." According to a press release:

The upcoming Presidential dialogues will make political history as the first to ever enable at home viewers and a live audience to interact with the candidates in real-time. As part of the partnership, every MTV viewer, and all MTV.com and MySpace users will be able to submit questions via MySpaceIM, mobile devices and e-mail – while watching the live webcast on either site – as online viewer reaction is captured through live polling tools on both MTV.com and MySpace.com. The interactive events, each an hour in length, are designed to break through the standard election-cycle discourse to enable instantaneous community participation and feedback.

The first of these IM-mediated discussions between the candidates and young voters will take place in little over a month, and will feature Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards. I'm sure the candidates are thrilled -- yet another campaign stop, this time virtual, to add to the pile of upcoming debates. ADAD! (Another day, another debate.) They might have to do some homework to understand what's being asked of them ...
