Sony announced today that they would form a joint venture company with television provider Sky in Europe to bring a video download service to the PSP.
The service, which will be branded under Sony's existing 'Go! Entertainment' label for non-game PSP functions, will launch in early 2008.
Customers will be able to pick and choose from individual programs offered by Sky, or subscribe to content packages like Sports, Entertainment, or Animation.
Sony also announced two more Go! services -- Go! Messenger, a voice/video/text chat service that will sit on the PSP's main menu bar and allow you to communicate with other PSP owners, and Go! Explore, a GPS navigation product. Both will be available in 2008.
Much like today's announcement of a PVR service for PlayStation 3, Sony America's official line is that while these announcements only pertain to Europe, the company is "investigating" the possibility of offering similar services down the line in the US.
