In case you haven’t heard (Underwire readers are pretty hip, so you probably have) M.I.A.‘s new joint Kala came out this week. And, well, it’s really effing good (so much so that my head bursts with fruit flavor every time I hear "Boyz"). The best was yet to come. Today, I find that VBS.tv premiered a new show Monday called "Spike Spends Saturday With" wherein video whiz kid Spike Jonze, well, spends Saturday with someone. His first victim? M.I.A., who apparently had been previously violated by a hair stylist on ketamine. I’m still working my way through all six parts (!), but so far it’s pretty dag awesome. Be sure to check out the part where M.I.A. takes Jonze to visit Afrikan Boy, the rapper who drops a verse on Kala‘s "Hussel," as well as her spot-on take on the musical exchange between developing nations and the U.S. "This kid knows 50 Cent," she says, pointing to a picture of a young boy in Africa. "But 50 Cent doesn’t know this kid. Culturally, it’s important to bridge that gap."
