Valet Bike Parking in San Francisco

The San Francisco Giants are providing valet parking for cyclists at every one of their home games, and it is free. Pre-game traffic can be terrible, and one way to ease the congestion is to encourage alternative transport, and a guaranteed safe spot for your wheels is one way to do that.

Biking is fun, but if you lock up your ride in the street you might come back to an empty space. The San Francisco Giants are providing valet parking for cyclists at every one of their home games, and it is free. Pre-game traffic can be terrible, and one way to ease the congestion is to encourage alternative transport, and a guaranteed safe spot for your wheels is one way to do that.

The AT&T Park scheme is run by the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, who also set up temporary bike parking at other outdoor events. Rider response has been fantastic. Bikers are used to being treated as second class citizens, so the VIP treatment has been welcome. In fact, the Giants’ public transport policy has been so successful that over half the attendees arrive at the game without a car.
