Drawing on Air is a three-dimensional digital sculpting system in which the artist dons a V.R. helmet while wielding a stylus in one hand and a "tracking device" in the other.
Created by Daniel Keefe, Robert Zeleznik and David Laidlaw, all of
Brown University, the contraption is designed to make it easy for artists to craft complicated spacial objects: especially the precise curves that play a big part in product design.
Thats not to say the system will be solely of use for industrial CAD
users. Applications range from "rough sketches" to medical imaging, all given 3D heft with force feedback and two-handed interaction.
A hint, gentlemen: pornography is always the killer app.
