The hovercraft is dying as a form of mass transit, crushed under the weight of its own noise, inefficiency and awesomeness. All three attributes are in abundance, thankfully, for the Hov Pod, a personal, single-seat bothercraft that might well take off where its bigger brothers have *run aground.

At about $26,000, it's more expensive than a car, but it can reach 45 MPH on land, sea or swamp. The learning curve is said to be easy — "Just levitate and be happy" — letting you whizz around menacing everyone on the beach only 10 minutes after purchase.
