Aiptek's made a bit of buzz for itself for making tiny, cheap high-definition camcorders. With the DMX-HD700, however, Sanyo is to make a bit of buzz for itself for making tiny, expensive high-defintiion camcorders. How, then, will the quality differ?
Spec-wise, the biggest difference between the $170 Aiptek and the $600
Sanyo appears to be that it has a high-sensitivity mode (ISO 3200) for low light scenes, face recognition, and a widescreen LCD display. On the other hand, it shoots 7 mp-stills, compared to the Aiptek's 8
megapixel pics.
Given the price difference, it's almost certainly the case that the Sanyo will offer a more robust and well-heeled image than the cheaper competitor (though Aiptek's similarly cheap graphics tablets give Wacom's low-end models a run for their money). A good illustration that paper specs are meaningless compared to build quality, perhaps?
