According to analyst Gene Munster, Apple brings in $831 for every iPhone. About three quarters comes from its cut of AT&T's bills, and the ultimate profit is $580 per handset. The New York Times considers this "rather shocking."
For reference, $580 will buy 11,360 Red Twizzlers, 77 birthday cakes, or one used El Camino.
