The third in Lionhead Studios' developer diary series, now available on Xbox Live and Lionhead's site, has the self-proclaimed geeks of Central Technology Group discussing stolen fog machines, Pyramidhead, and creating drama in Fable 2's combat.

Staging designer Georg Backer explains that putting combat in a dramatic context is key to making it an enjoyable play experience:

Drama is the one thing which will make the difference between just a normal fighting or repetitive fighting mechanics and turn it into an experience, a challenge.

CTG had also been using a fog machine to get the feel for the way mist moved, but Peter Molyneux apparently stole it for his pond at home. Meanwhile, programmer Stephen Broadley takes two days off from work to perfect his Pyramidhead costume for the studio's 10th anniversary bash. Does a pretty darn fine job of it, too.
