UtterzUtterz allow bloggers to post audio messages on their blogs from a cellphone by calling 721-432-Mooo (the whole site has a cow theme; the motto is "Be herd"), giving them an easy way to post an update when a data connection is not available.  One good application for this could be posting little snippets from shows as they are happening, provided that the sound in the venue isn’t too loud for your phone’s microphone (maybe I’ll try this during CMJ later on this week).

If you add friends to your profile, you can hear all of your friends’ recordings by calling Utterz or going to the website, and you can specify that a specific recording only go to your friends rather than to the public or your blog.  A widget with your latest recordings can be embedded on your blog, or — if you enter your blogging user name and password — the site can post your recordings as blog posts in under 5 minutes.  Utterz’ example shows a post with a title, the recording, a picture, a video, and some text, but before I edited it, my test post lacked a title, and this was all that appeared in the body:

This is useful, and I like the the simple, ad-free interface, but it’d be nice to be able to at least add a title via SMS, rather than having to browse the web using the phone in order to add text, video, and so on [see update].

Update: In fact, there is a way to add a title, video, image, and so on, using the following instructions from Utterz: "You can add a title (along with text, pictures and video)… send it to [email protected] fromyour phone – your subject text will become the text to your utter, anyother text will become body text and the picture gets stuck right in. So its more than just voice."
