My pal Thorsten of Highpoint Lowlife Records let me know about an intriguing new release today on his label called "On Becoming an Island," by erstlaub, described as "a 43-minute drone treatise on the effects of solitude and isolation."
I'm working my way through it now, and it's an entrancing listen so far -- definitely worthy of consideration if you find yourself booked for a sensory deprivation tank, or just like to listen to slow, meditative drone music.
Highpoint Lowlife will only sell 100 physical copies of this release in a DVD cases featuring topography-based artwork designed by Mattieu Ranson and a hand-numbered postcard with which you can ostensibly regain contact with the outside world.
A free 128 Kbps MP3 version of "On Becoming an Island" is also available on Last.FM.
The project was also remixed by a number of other artists (zip file):
[1] The Village Orchestra - Arrival (35)
[2] Orphax - On Subducting an Island
[3] Bovine Life Vs Aimilia Mouzaki - thedroneofonearmfree
[5] Christopher Mcfall - A Slow Crack for Dawn
